The virus itself would later be called the "Reanimation Virus" because, quite simply, it reanimates dead bodies. When the virus enters a human host it first launches a series of infections which are around 98% lethal. Once the host is dead and his immune system with him, the virus enters the brain and sends electrical pulses that mimic brain signals. This jumpstarts the brain and body at only the basic level. From that point on, the virus has complete control over its host and is able to feed off of the host's digestive tracts when its host devours a non host body.

During the early stages of the outbreak in the United States, three men fled north only to become trapped in the center of the most populated city in the
world at that time. New York City. As the city tore itself apart at the hands of the infection, the three men, two of whom had combat training, survived by
hiding in the sewers and raiding the city and rescueing survivors by night.
