Humanity has become an endangered species.
Three months ago, a virus was unleashed, spreading across the globe in a matter of days. Soon after, the recently deceased began to rise once again and attack the living. The virus was in the plants, in the food, in the very air humans and animals breathed. Anyone who died reanimated, becoming one of the mindless rotting corpses that were swarming humanity's cities. Within a few weeks, everything was going to hell. Entire cities, entire countries, were disappearing under the feet of the living dead, and America was being overwhelmed from both the numbers of refugees and reanimates swarming up from the border, as well as outbreaks of their own.
In response to the situation, America's superheroes and villains elected to put aside their differences to fight the undead, both to save their country and themselves. Launching a daring attack on the main reanimate horde whilst the army and National Guard evacuated the cities, the superhumans began to fight the living dead.
Things did not go to plan.
The superhumans, unprepared for the enemy they were facing, were slaughtered, almost to a man, and the survivors forced to retreat. The undead horde continued its nigh-unstoppable advance, straight into the evacuation of the cities. Thousands, if not millions, were killed as the reanimates descended upon the poorly protected civilians.
It seemed that all was lost. America collapsed, the President fleeing to a secure bunker in the mountains.
But the Superhumans were not giving in so easily.
With the assistance of the few remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, supported from afar by Nick Fury, they managed to save a small group of survivors and lead them north to Canada, where they located an old S.H.I.E.L.D. high-security base. It's vast walls, store-rooms and supplies made it an ideal place for the remnants of humanity to make a stand against the living dead.
Yet the undead continue to advance, their ranks now bolstered by the superhumans killed on the battlefield. Whilst they have lost much of their old intelligence, these zombiefied heroes and villains are still extremely dangerous, some still capable of using their old powers. And their rotting eyes are set on what could be the final bastion of humanity, defended by the last of the superhumans.
Let the siege begin...
'Marvel: Zombies' is another mad game idea cooked up in the Survival Line by Sandite and I. We thought the idea of combing zombies and Marvel characters, whilst already done, was still a good combination, and wanted to try a different approach from Robert Kirkman. The result is this. You take the role of one of Marvel's many superheroes or villains, or even create your own with the system I'll post up soon. Sandite and I will co-GM this.
Players can control up to three characters, so post your choices and I'll add them below. Rules on character creation'll follow soon. Also, Sandite's called Iron Man and I call the Punisher.
