Name: Jason McAdams
Weight: 220 lbs.
Hair: Dark Brown (Short)
Birthplace: McHenry, Illinois
Character Story: Born in McHenry Illinois to Joan and John McAdams, he was the first of 2 children, his sister Sabrina would follow five years later. He thrived in school and was remarked on by teachers for his abilities, especially reading he couldn't seem to get enough and was soon well past his fellow classmates at reading comprehension. He excelled in all sports as well, but his passion was football. He had posters of Brett Farve and Steve Young on his walls and was outside with friends playing football till it was too dark to play anymore. Though the weekends were fun of another type, hunting out in the bush where he learned to use a rifle. His father was rather good with a rifle and his son followed suit, even being shown how to care for a gun by cleaning it and such.
High school was his coming out party as it were, where he really came into his own. His grades were great and was soon the starting quarterback for his team the Warriors. It was a magical time for him, he could seem to do no wrong. The head cheerleader was even his girlfriend. When not at school he'd visit with his grandfather, a WW2 vet and proud of it. He would help with chores around his house, raking leaves and such, but he loved to hear the stories. His grandfather never asked why so much time was spent at his house, because he knew that there was trouble at home. Jason's father John was slipping further and further away from the family, believing himself at times to be still in Vietnam. His mother tried and tried to help him, but none of the medications seemed to help.
Finally near end of grade 11 his mother filed for divorce and his grandfather died. It was rough, his schoolwork started to slip a little, his only escape was football and he was starting to garner more than just local attention, national media came in and he was featured along with some other high school athletes from around the country in a story for Sports Illustrated. He inherited his favourite item from his grandfather, an M1911 along with a small amount of cash.. He instantly began to practice with the pistol, not wanting for just a display piece, but to perhaps honour his grandfather by actually being able to use it and well. His hunting trips continued, though his father wasn't along for obvious reasons, so buddies from the football team were the substitutes. He was soon to get the dreaded news that the divorce was final and that his mother was taking him with her to Chicago where she was to take a job at Cook County Memorial Hospital in the I.C.U. He got to finish out his year with Warriors, but during the summer was the move. In which his father allowed him to take what he used when out hunting a rifle, a shotgun and his machete.
His new school was to be Lake View High School and his new team would be the Wildcats. His new coach was ecstatic, though the rest of team wasn't, especially the former starting quarterback. He was picked on a lot and ended up in a number of after school scraps. He started to withdraw and of course miss his life back in McHenry, where he had had it all. His mother worried but was very busy with work and Jason was therefore left to his own devices. This was when he discovered the joys of paintball. Air soft and the great outdoors. It took him awhile to get accustomed to it and see what he liked best. Once he did, he went into it big time. Joining a team as their sniper and even buying a ghillie suit, his weekends and some weeknights were spent this way. On the football field he was still as good as ever, the only place where everything went away. College offers began to pour in, as well as recruiters coming out to see him. He looked things over and pondered it briefly, but it didn't appeal to him.
His father still called and was often rambling about things, he was obviously paranoid and tried to convince his son to move back home. He had moved into his fathers house and fixed up the old bomb shelter built back when the Cuban Missile Crisis was big news. His farther was certain something was going to happen whether it be a nuclear war or even just an uprising against the government. He had all sorts of theories. Some Jason could agree were plausible if unlikely, but he felt like the one man who had been his idol as a child was now someone he didn't know and that caused him to feel even more isolated.
As school came to a close he chose to take a year off and just work, think things through much to the chagrin of many college recruiters who were salivating with anticipation of getting Jason to go their schools. Much to everyone's surprise he went to work at a place called Diversey Central Amoco as a gas jockey. His mother tried to talk to him about this but he wouldn't really listen. Soon enough he was out on his own, unless you count a roommate and his mother took a job that sent her packing for Dallas Texas. He began to hit the bars and drink and pick up women as soon as he was able. Even before that with road trips to Canada with a car load of guys just out of high school. He was recognized from time to time and he never cared what people would say about his career choice. He knew better, this was temporary but then more years passed and he was still there. Playing paintball religiously and hunting on weekends, not to mention the firing range to practice with the M1911. This was life for him, for now anyway.
