The problem is of course, no matter how well thought out rules are, someone somewhere will find a way to exploit them, so we need to work together to try to patch up as many holes as we can now. Plus I enjoy getting input from everyone, since we all have unique perspectives.
Here is our thinking: There will be multiple sets of rules that govern certain things.
General Conduct - these rules will apply to the overall board, non-game threads, and the chat room.
In-Game Player Conduct - these rules will be the most extensive and apply to all player posts in the games. Any GM is free to override them for a specific game, but if no rules are specified then these can be referred to. It will cover many topics and explain concepts such as combat rounds, how exp works, etc.
Game Moderator Conduct - these rules will apply specifically to the GMs of the site so that everyone understands the duties of a GM.
Position Conduct - these rules will apply to some new positions that are being created for the relaunch. We have a list of Staff Members with no specific duties...this will change. Rather than having one or two people doing everything, our Staff will work together as a cohesive unit to make TDWW run more smoothly. They will have clearly defined duties that everyone will understand.
The first section I want to tackle is General Conduct.
Here is what I have so far. This is a brief outline form, I will add more detail and descriptions later.
General Conduct – applies to all forums on the MB and Chat Room
Bashing and Disrespect - NOT tolerated. People make mistakes, gentle reminders of rules or urges to correct it. Golden Rule.
No pestering or elitism – we don't care how many times you can post in a day, how long they are, how much experience you have, etc.
No personal attacks or flames - free to debate ideas and opinions in mature ways, but don't bash the person who posted it.
Spamming - NO. Define Spamming: posting the same topic multiple times, posting nonsense in order to raise post count, posting five times to make one sentence.
Complaints - Take it to the proper person. If you have a problem with another player, either try to work it out privately or step away from the situation for a day or two, or come to Inquisitor or an Admin. If a problem with the GM, try to work it out with them first, then go to the RP Liaison.
Absences – let people know if you'll be going away, and for how long if known.
Pornography – no posting of pornographic images or links to pornography.
Mature Subject Matter - This is a website that handles a subject that can be graphic. Most zombie movies contain cussing, nudity, graphic violence, gore, and the games may contain them as well. If there is something you find objectionable you are free to state your opinion. Some objectionable topics might be: gore, violence, sexual content, drug usage. If these things bother you, maybe we're not the right site for you.
Did I leave anything out of these? Anything you'd like to see added, changed? Please let me know.
