I know I just made a pitch, but with all of the talk about a chat based RP I have been brain storming. I figure that the best possible way to implement it is in a group setting. Where, for the majority of the game, all of the characters will stay together. It would work best with small groups, which of course is good since our member numbers seem to be down, and could be anything form a single night game to a sprawling epic narrative that takes multiple nights of work to complete.
I figure that as a flagship game we would have 3 or 4 players, and a GM.
The idea is that this small group of players would be a group of people hunting the paranormal. They will investigate it, find it, and if it is hurting people, stop it by any means necessary. These people aren’t complete weirdos, or doing it for fame. They are contract investigators and exterminators of the occult, super natural, and paranormal. They are kind of like the Ghostbusters on crack, and they deal with every possible sort of creature/spirit/alien/undead monstrosity imaginable. We can have a topic in the forums for RPing in the HQ and discussing what our next target will be. And then we can pick a time for our expedition, and we’ll go at it. Someone, I can do it, will have to be a GM for this. It will likely be story form, and if I am to be GMing it, can get very deadly.
It would be a weekly, episodic type of game, one that doesn’t require your presence in every episode. (But that would be nice!) And each episode would revolve around a particular super natural creature. Between each episode players can make suggestions on real life cryptids and ghost stories and alien sightings that we can investigate. It can be a lot of fun. I kind of want to give it a shot. Maybe if this and Invasion kick up a lot of interest we can have a different episodic RP every night.
